I’m used to Youtube not caring fake profiles writing harassing comments, not giving any IP info about the commenters who believe I should be killed for the world to be a better place. Doesn’t even work to use moderators on my videos because every time I write a completely irrelevant comment on a song or somth, some fake account stalker find me. I’m just sick of this. And for people to say “oh it’s just free speech, don’t get bothered by it”, well with the same logic so many problems would be solved. You are sexually harassed in the workplace? Just don’t get bothered by it, they’re not physically harming you they’re just gently touching or fondling you, so don’t get bothered by it and the problem goes away. Does it make sense?
But what gets me is when they send a survey of sort and claim that “They take harassment very seriously”. Um, NO YOU FUCKING DON’T. At least don’t lie about it. It’s extremely easy to eliminate the perverts. Any one of this option is enough:
- Make Youtube accounts ID or at least phone approved, like many other sites already do. If there’s a harassment, we send you a complaint, and if you think it actually counts as harassment, you send their info. Even if this is too much for your “freedom of speech”, at least the pervert won’t be able to make throwaway accounts that easily.
- If that’s also too much, at least make it optional for them to get approved and make it optional for us to see only the comments from approved accounts, and only the approved ones to see our videos and comments. Problem solved.
But I guess you guys care more about the pervert clicks. And you hide behind “free speech”. I’m sorry but you either say “free speech” or “we care about harassment”. You can’t have it both. But of course, whenever I make a mildly political podcast, YT demonetizes it immediately. When I talk about why you shouldn’t commit suicide, YT demonetizes because I’m talking about suicide. What I see right now is every social media I use, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube care more about the perverts more than the creators. With its new “harassment policy”, Youtube would crack down on creators for any kind of hard criticism. Well, instead of making a video and showing your face, you should have hid yourself and stalked other creators, harassing them with your comments, because YT is totally fine with that. YT mentality is like “Screw the creators, they’re just a bunch of people, but the commenters, they’re much more, so they must be more important”
I just want you to know, I’d leave these platforms in an instant if a platform was offered where people can’t make disposable accounts to stalk the users, and we could actually see who’s who.
